“MANUEL SCAVAGING IS (NOT) A CHOICE"

This inference that manual scavenging is a choice is itself is a pseudo argument with several loopholes to worry about ,that their is still an existing perception among the masses who still somehow does not seem to have the adequate clarity about the shame this country is willingly basking in since independence.
So many protests,campaigns and sessions had given their contribution since the beginning of 21st century,but it has been the advent of visual art & communication which has expanded the anti manual scavenging vision to far reaching level across the nation.Even after so,much of successful works being witnessed by people,the prime personas ,the politicians seem to be deaf & dumb when it comes to even considering this as an issue.
Castes which were oppressed and formed part of lower strata of the hierarchy in this system namely the shudras and specifically in southern India arunthathiyar,pariyar, chakliar, are those who are made to get involved in the process of manual scavenging.
Drainage System is the most neglected aspect in our society,in a world where technologies have reached so far that the artificial intelligence is readying up to take over the world,certain castes made to go through such profession,its a shame that we call it a profession first,but they don’t have any other choice,such is there ire of suffering,forcing them into this work makes sure they are systematically deprived from basic necessities be it education,food etc. And no space for any higher opportunity is provided to them to uplift their life's from this darker pit they are living in from many generations.
On day to day basis we see so many people are loosing their life's cleaning our shit with their bare hands,they are made to go without basic safety equipment's and clean all of it.Such a inhumane and dangerous occupation it is to be in ,where at same time they have to go through tumultuous cruel behavior of society which isolates them from every procession stripping them of the basic dignity with which a human being should live their life.
Some say this is how it has been for long ,this is the way the society has been,but what we raise or express is the fact that keep the sociology behind it a step aside and let the scientific temper take over and breath,the attitude of completely derecognizing such work as a profession needs to be eradicated not only at governmental for which their is Prohibition Act (PEMS) 2013 etc. But its implementation at social aspect is also very well of quite significance.Its an issue of moral human rights where ones dignity,health is at question.
Its neither a question, whether it is a choice or not,nor they need anybody’s sympathy,but actually they demand and command equality along with adequate equity as that is their existential right we need to assure.
